Nova, a former member of the Neun, Axiom's elite mercenaries known as the "Demons of Heaven," fled the Axiom before being transformed into a mindless monster in a grisly experiment. While attempting to fight his way to freedom alongside his comrade and friend, Nerve, the two were separated during the struggle, and Nova crashed on Hel, the murky blue planet below. Now forced to start over as an outsider in this cruel and unforgiving world, Nova reluctantly joins a gang of freedom fighters known as the "Reclaimers," who reluctantly accept him into their ranks in the hopes of exacting retribution on the Axiom. However, not everything goes as planned now that Nova is compelled to assist the exact individuals he was previously tasked with eliminating.

Raised at the Vallecule Orphanage alongside his childhood friend, Nerve, Nova has never known the loving embrace of a father or mother. Outers like him aren't born naturally like humans are. No, they're cultivated instead by scientists with the aid of an Alpha. The offspring are then sent to various orphanage facilities across Hel, most just living out their childhood under the watchful gaze of the Sovereign. Nova's childhood was no different. While he did experience the simple joys of being a child, he never knew what it was like to belong.

Humanity's relationship with the Outers has deteriorated during the last 300 years. The latter were expected to protect everyone from the threat posed by the Immortals, alien-like lifeforms that feed on humanity's agony. Because of the Outers' abilities to channel the power of femto (these bizarre glowing red crystals), they were the ideal candidates to defend humanity from the growing Immortal threat. However, the relationship between humans and the Outers deteriorated when the Trinitas (Axiom's acting sovereign) abandoned humanity in favor of evolution. Their betrayal is the source of modern humans' fear and hate of Outers.

Joining the Neun was probably Nova's greatest accomplishment. He and Nerve had to work their way to the top mission after mission, often facing up against the insurgent group that endangered Axiom's territory. The two of them worked hard to become members of Neun and were eventually awarded the distinction after much blood, sweat, and tears. They were full-fledged members, frequently doing high-priority missions on behalf of the Trinitas. However, their loyalty was betrayed when the Trinitas decided to proceed with their plans to create the Centurion, mindless fighting drones manufactured from the flesh of countless outers who had been stripped of their identities.

Escaping from "The Garden," one of the Axiom's spaceships, was no simple task. If Nerve hadn't discovered the truth, Savvy and the rest of his deranged scientists would have converted Nova into a Centurion. Fortunately, they managed to escape, but not before taking one of Axiom's Arsenals. The Arsenals are combat exosuits that significantly increase your physical strength, agility, and speed in battle. These suits, powered by femto crystals, can fly even in space. So if they wanted to survive the onslaught of guards and mechs hunting them down, they needed to fight their way out. Nova and Nerva did exactly that, fighting and killing everyone in their path until they reached the escape pods. However, everything went wrong the moment they were confronted by a Centurion.

While Nova's outfit is predominantly black, it is frequently accented with red or, on occasion, white. It should go without saying that red is his favorite color, given the appearance and name of his Arsenal, the "Red Hare." Outside of his fighting attire, Nova dresses quite plainly in gym rat-style clothing. However, he won't pass up the opportunity to don some tight leather.

Furthermore, Nova's long, flowing white hair, as well as the shape of his eyes and other facial traits, make him appear to be Hex's long-lost brother. However, they have no family ties. However, this didn't stop him from wearing Hex's pendant after she passed. It was his way of mourning her death despite their severed ties.
